Therapeutic Approach

Therapy is where we’ll be curious about you; there is no judgment about your past, your experiences, or your feelings. We start with thinking about your life and formative experiences; then we look for patterns, particularly patterns that are connected to what is most difficult for you presently. We’ll also spend some time acknowledging the strength and resilience you already have, which is important because it’s helped you get this far, and be clear about what serves you and what does not. We will use all of that information to compassionately tend to the parts of you that have struggled to recover from what you’ve experienced.

I am trained in EMDR Psychotherapy, and I tailor treatment to each person and their unique situation. This can integrate relational, psychodynamic and trauma-focused theories and interventions. I am a YTT 200-hour certified yoga instructor, which also informs my approach. It is often useful to examine somatic experiences and experiment with mindfulness skills to help guide our work. I provide therapy from an anti-racist and social justice orientation, as it’s important to understand the environments we live in and how they impact us.
