Who We Are

This website is operated by Maria Boncyk, LCSW, a solo psychotherapy practice providing virtual therapy to clients located in New York and Massachusetts. Maria Boncyk is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (New York LCSW #087032; Massachusetts LICSW #1140891). Privacy questions can be directed to maria@mariaboncyklcsw.com or (347) 450-0833.

Information Collected Through This Website

If you contact the practice through the contact form, by email, or by phone, the practice receives the information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, phone number, and the content of your message. This information is used solely to respond to your inquiry and coordinate care. Please do not include sensitive personal health information in the contact form; detailed health history is collected only during your initial session through secure onboarding paperwork.

This website does not sell personal information, does not display advertising, and does not share visitor information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Health Information and HIPAA

Clinical records created in the course of therapy are protected health information under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). What you discuss in therapy is confidential and cannot be disclosed to a third party without your express permission, with narrow legal exceptions, such as an imminent plan to seriously harm yourself or another person, or where disclosure is otherwise required by law. These limits are explained in detail in the informed consent documents you receive before beginning therapy, and Maria is glad to discuss them with you directly.

If you use insurance, your insurance company receives the diagnosis code and billing code required to process claims. It does not automatically receive notes or records from your treatment. If you do not use insurance, no insurance company receives any information about your diagnosis or course of treatment.

AI-Free Practice Commitment

Safety and trust are essential to the therapeutic relationship, and this practice takes information security and surveillance concerns seriously. Maria does not use AI note-takers, AI transcription tools, or other AI systems that risk storing or sharing session content, and she has taken measures to disable AI features and data storage on the platforms and tools the practice uses. Reducing unnecessary data collection is an ongoing priority of this practice.

How Information Is Stored and Protected

Clinical records are maintained in accordance with HIPAA and applicable New York and Massachusetts requirements. Therapy sessions are conducted over a secure, encrypted telehealth platform. Administrative records are retained only as long as required by law and professional regulations, and access is limited to Maria Boncyk as the sole clinician of this practice.

Your Rights

You have the right to request access to your records, request corrections, and receive an accounting of certain disclosures, subject to the limits of applicable law. To exercise any of these rights, contact maria@mariaboncyklcsw.com.
